Viable business models for independent studios
David Fugère-Lamarre, Co-founder and CEO of iLLOGIKA Studios Open a new window, Julian Maroda, CEO of Norsfell Open a new window, and Pascal Nataf, Co-founder of Affordance Studio Open a new window, came together to address the issue of the most profitable business model for Québec’s independent studios: why choose between products and services when you can do both? They shared their experiences and spoke about their best practices.

Québec, one of the best places in the world to develop video games
A little later, Liliane Pin and Mélissa Prophète from Investissement Québec, accompanied by Philippe Valentine, Project Manager with Montréal International, and Christian Norton, Director of the new Montréal studio set up by Germany-based Altagram Open a new window, spoke about Québec’s competitive advantages and how they led to the 1,000% growth in employment seen by the sector over the last 15 years.

Finally, Investissement Québec’s team seized the opportunity provided by the presence of so many world-renown experts to invite several foreign companies, particularly from India, China and the U.S., to come to Montréal and discover the world’s fifth-largest video game hub after Tokyo, London, San Francisco and Austin.
